Undergraduate Research Internship Program

Program Goals

The goal of Norfolk State University’s Center for Materials Research CREST-CREAM under graduate research program is to educate and train a diverse group of students who would benefit from early exposure to research as a path toward preparation of the next generation of scholars, researchers and leaders. Meaningful student-mentor interactions represent a keystone for achieving this goal. Mutual respect benefit for both student learners and faculty advisors/graduate student mentors, attention to responsibility and professional conduct are key components to developing productive mentoring relationships.  To help ensure such relationships are built, the section below clarifies expectations for both faculty advisors/graduate student mentors and undergraduate researchers.

The CREAM project’s research efforts are organized into three research thrusts:

1. Energy Harvesting: solar cells, thermoelectric energy conversion, simulation and modeling;

2. Energy Storage: batteries and supercapacitors;

3. Low Power and High-Performance Devices: sensors, transparent heaters and radiation detectors.
