The Center for Renewable Energy and Advanced Materials (CREAM) mission is to provide infrastructure for multi-disciplinary research and education/outreach for underrepresented minority students, enabling transformative research in the nation’s highest priority field of renewable energy and advanced materials for energy harvesting, energy storage and low-power consuming high-performance electronic and optical devices.

The goals of the center are:

·         Develop a renewable energy technology platform through the implementation of cross-disciplinary and synergistic infrastructure.

·         Work collaboratively with diverse faculty from different institutions to make fundamental and conceptual breakthroughs that will form the foundation for methods of energy generation and storage and components with a dramatically lower power consumption.

·         Implement and promote diversity in STEM disciplines with innovative and relevant education/outreach/professional development initiatives to recruit, retain and train members of unrepresented minority groups.

·         Prepare minority students for leadership positions in the fast-paced, global scientific and engineering community; and to create future leaders, researchers, and educators in the energy sector.
